Email from Rosie J about the Sojourner Truth post:

What a wonderful Bytes! Can't believe things were the way they were. We are so lucky! The story actually made me cry. I think there's no greater love than between a parent and child and to see that child being sold or just taken away is incomprehensible.

You know those made up names that Bart Simpson uses to torment Moe by prank calling him at the bar and having him page the name (Hugh Jass, Amanda Hugginkiss, Seymour Butz), or that have appeared in news reports courtesy of unsuspecting journalists (the most well known being Heywood Jablome)?

The latest sucker to be caught was Channel 7 during its Good Friday Telethon to raise funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital.

Mr Hugh G Rection promised a donation of $32.38 and Channel 7 duly showed the pledge on screen:

In the news last week was the story of the Justin Bieber roast.

For those who don’t know what a roast is, it consists of a dozen or so celebrities making jokes, often cruel, vulgar and tasteless, about that evening’s guest “roastee”, who is then given the opportunity to respond.

Bieber’s roasters were host Kevin Hart along with Shaquille O'Neal, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Natasha Leggero, Hannibal Buress, Martha Stewart, Chris D'Elia, Jeff Ross, Pete Davidson and a special appearance from Will Ferrell as his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy.

Most of the comments were entirely forgettable or offensive, but I did like the one about Martha Stewart, the well known 73 year old author and TV personality who was convicted of conspiracy relating to insider trading, obstruction and making false statements to federal investigators. In 2004 she received a 5 months jail terms and 2 years supervised release.

Most of the jokes, comments and utterances were tasteless and offensive, but the one I did find amusing was by Natasha Leggero:

"All these rappers on stage and Martha Stewart has done the most jail time."
